Inspection and MOT reminders that bring cars back

Reminders for the annual inspection or MOT, tied to the vehicle, with enough notice and without nagging.

The date lives on the car

An inspection or MOT reminder comes from the date stored on the vehicle, not from a notebook of people to call. If the date is missing, the reminder does not exist. Write it when the car is in the shop.

Lead time is a choice for that location. A few days is enough for the customer to book. Too early and they forget. Too late and the car already went through the test without you.

One notice, not a campaign

The message should say what is due, on which car, and how to book. Nothing else. If every note looks like a leaflet, people stop reading. A useful reminder fits in a few lines.

Mark it sent when it goes out, and done when the customer books or says they are not interested. That stops a second call for the same due date.

Maintenance beside the test

Oil, filters, and an interval in months or mileage can live on the same vehicle. The shop reviews one list of pending reminders, not three systems.

If the customer is coming for the inspection or MOT, check whether a service is also close. Offer it on the same visit. If it is not due, do not force it.

What not to promise

The reminder does not pass the test for the customer. It books the visit. If a pre-check is wise, say so in the message. A surprise at the counter is what annoys people.

The reminder is prepared from the date and the days of notice. Sending it can be automatic or a call from the list. The list is what keeps the shop from forgetting.
