End-of-day checklist for the front desk

Closing the day is a pass, not a report. Whoever is at the counter or running the shop checks four things: cars still open, parts that were promised, tomorrow's bookings, and payment left half done. If that is on the sheet, the morning shift does not rebuild the day from memory.

Orders

  • Every car still inside has an open order.
  • The status matches reality: waiting, in progress, ready, or handed over.
  • If one did not move, the reason is written.
  • Nothing says ready if the customer still cannot collect it because of a part.
  • Today's handovers are not still in progress.
  • Someone else can read the list without calling you.

Parts

  • What was ordered today is on the order, with a date.
  • Tomorrow's bay is not reserved for a part that is not here.
  • Today's goods in were recorded.
  • Goods out to orders were recorded too.
  • If a date changed, the sheet has the new one.
  • Nobody promised a time that exists only in a chat.

Tomorrow

  • The first bookings have a customer, a plate, and a reason.
  • Impossible gaps were moved today, not left until opening.
  • There is a short plan if a booking does not arrive.
  • Inspection, MOT, or service reminders that fit a free gap are noted as calls.
  • The bay knows where to start.
  • No booking is doubled on the same hour.

Payment

  • Today's invoices are not still drafts if they were already sent.
  • Paid ones are marked paid.
  • Cars released on account have the deposit written down.
  • You know who to call if something is overdue.
  • The till and the invoice status do not contradict each other.
  • A named person made this pass. Not «someone will look».
